Although I am not aware of any professional administering a spanking to a patient, I know of one case where a marriage counselor told a couple that the embarrassment and pain of a few good spankings over her husband's knee would go a long way toward curing a willful wife's gambling addiction. I know because the wife later advocated husbands spanking their wives.
Decades ago, before spanking acquired the abuse label, a woman I knew claimed her psychiatrist spanked his wife. She thought it amusing that a man with both a Ph.D. and and M.D. still had to control his wife the old-fashioned way.
